Melissa is honored and excited to support Muske’s Bridge as the secretary, board member and close friend of Andrew and Jackie. Melissa Maust has been a resident of Ligonier since 2005. She and her family have been blessed to have been friends with Andrew and Jackie for almost as long. Jackie and Andrew, as individuals and as a married couple have had a profound and lasting impact on my life and the lives of my family. The influence they have had on us cannot be measured by a single moment or gesture—it is reflected in the values they helped nurture, the memories we share, and the countless ways they have enriched our lives.
Carol Fox is a lifelong native of western Pennsylvania. She was educated as a Family Medicine physician at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and the Latrobe Hospital Family Medicine residency program. She spent the entirety of her career at one of the current Independence Health hospitals. She initially provided direct care for the community while teaching in the residency program. From there, she moved into administrative roles, both in the residency and for the hospital system, ultimately becoming the Chief Medical Officer for independence health. She retired from that role and moved on to become a Chief Grandmother Officer for her 3 beautiful grandchildren. Her career has been focused on safety, quality, and education of providers, patients and caregivers. She shares Jackie‘s passion about ensuring that patients and their loved ones have full information about their care and are equipped with the tools that they need to safely be cared for at home if that is their desire.
Serves as the chairperson and Professor in the PTA program and the Health Science B.S. majors at Mount Aloysius College. She has been a Physical Therapist since 2011 specializing in geriatric physical therapy with a special focus on public health issues. Emily is also passionate about patient advocacy in honor of her medically complex daughter. When not teaching, Emily practices physical therapy at a local senior living facility, focuses on being physically active, and can be found spending time with her husband, two children, and her dog.

Father Thomas P. Curry, O.S.B., is a native of Great Neck, New York. Born July 30, 1967, he is the son of Mary Lou Curry of Great Neck and the late Thomas P. Curry, Sr. His sisters are Mary Elizabeth Williams of Floral Park, New York, and Kathleen Mangels of Valhalla, New York.
Father Thomas attended Saint Aloysius elementary school and is a 1985 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in quantitative analysis from Saint John’s University in 1989, and studied business at the University of West Florida. He earned the Master of Divinity degree from Saint Vincent Seminary in 2002. As a college student, he was named to “Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities” in 1989. He is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity and served as secretary and president at the Theta Sigma Chapter at Saint John’s University.
He worked as an intern for the Navy Exchange headquarters in Staten Island, N.Y. after finishing college and was promoted to a buyer position at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, in June of 1990.

Stacey Brodak, Vice President for Institutional Advancement and University Relations, joined Waynesburg University in 2017. In this role she leads the University’s work in development, alumni relations, marketing and communications.
Experienced in government and corporate affairs, she has a broad background in communications, development and stewardship, government and community relations, corporate social responsibility, leadership and management for both the private and public sectors. In 2018, she started the Chevron Center for Corporate Social Responsibility at Waynesburg University and led its work through 2022.
Prior to joining Waynesburg University, Mrs. Brodak served as the Senior Advisor for government, community and media relations for Noble Energy, where she managed all aspects of communications and government relations for the company’s Business Unit. Prior to that, Ms. Brodak worked as Sr. Director of Corporate Development for Chesapeake Energy, Sr. Director of Donor Relations at West Virginia University and was the Executive Director of the Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Active in the community, she currently serves on the boards of Blueprints, Greene County Industrial Development Corporation, and Muskie’s Bridge. She previously served on the boards of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors, West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association, the Marcellus Shale Coalition and the ARC Human Services Foundation.
Ms. Brodak received her MBA from Waynesburg University, a Certificate in Corporate Citizenship Management from Boston College and a Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia University. She and her husband currently reside in Washington, PA and have raised one son, now living in Pittsburgh.
Jackie Horvath is the founder of Muskie’s Bridge, a nonprofit that supports patients and caregivers by strengthening communication and connection throughout the healthcare journey. Muskie’s Bridge grew from Jackie’s deep personal experience caring for her husband, Andy. Drawing on her background as both a care provider and caregiver, she advocated for Andy and helped make his final months more comfortable, meaningful, and focused on what mattered most to him. That experience inspired her to create a bridge of support, education, and advocacy for other caregivers and families.
A licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, Jackie is passionate about helping seniors and individuals with physical challenges maintain independence and quality of life.
She currently works in home health and hospice care, where she develops and implements therapy programs to restore function and support patients through illness and recovery. Her clinical experience also includes orthopedic and balance rehabilitation, as well as skilled nursing care.
Jackie earned her degree from Mt. Aloysius College, where she graduated with honors and received multiple awards recognizing her leadership and commitment to service.
Alongside her clinical work, Jackie is a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council, where she advocates for stronger collaboration between healthcare providers, patients, and families. A lifelong athlete, she has completed 33 marathons, including seven Boston Marathons, and is the former owner of Jackie’s House in Ligonier.
Through Muskie’s Bridge, Jackie combines her clinical expertise and personal passion to empower caregivers and improve the healthcare experience for all.
Mallory Baker serves as President of Muskie’s Bridge, bringing more than 10 years of professional experience in the healthcare field. She began her career in health insurance, where she worked in market research and product development. She later transitioned to a healthcare start-up consulting company, focusing on product management.
After relocating to Greensburg, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Nevin, and their two daughters, Lilly and Vivian, Mallory devoted much of her time to her family and community. She has served as a food pantry coordinator through her church, sits on several local boards, and remains actively involved in local schools and the YMCA.
Mallory has been involved with Muskie’s Bridge for approximately two years. As President, she is committed to advancing its mission of educating, connecting, and empowering caregivers so they can confidently advocate for their loved ones. She is passionate about strengthening communication among caregivers, patients, and healthcare providers while helping families feel supported throughout the caregiving journey.
Dr. Nevin Baker is a board-certified interventional cardiologist and Medical Director of Cardiology at WVU Medicine Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He has extensive experience in cardiovascular medicine, physician leadership, quality improvement, and the development of advanced cardiac care programs.
Dr. Baker earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center. He subsequently completed fellowship training in interventional cardiology at Georgetown University/MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Throughout his career, he has held numerous leadership roles focused on cardiovascular quality, patient safety, heart attack systems of care, structural heart care, and clinical program development. He is also an accomplished clinical researcher and author with numerous peer-reviewed publications in cardiovascular medicine.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Baker is deeply committed to his family and community. He and his wife are raising their two children in the Greensburg area, where they are active members of their church and local community. He believes strongly in service, giving back, and strengthening the communities in which we live and work.
As a board member, Dr. Baker brings together his experience as a physician and healthcare leader with his perspective as a husband, father, and engaged community member. He is passionate about improving healthcare delivery, strengthening communication and support for patients and families, and helping create healthier, more connected communities.
Ed Marotta spent three decades in higher education before launching Marotta Marketing, Inc. in 2000. A native of Cleveland, Ohio and a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in journalism, he began his career in 1969 at Rio Grande College, handling news operations, publications, special events, and printing services. He joined the staff at Waynesburg College in 1972 where he helped write a successful multi-million dollar grant under Title III. He joined Washington and Jefferson College in 1985, winning a national award for his capital-campaign related publications and producing videos for fundraising and student recruitment. As a consultant, he writes and designs publications, produces videos, and directs fundraising research for campaigns. Author of Washington County: The Second Hundred Years, he focuses on projects that make positive contributions to the community. He and his wife of nearly 60 years, Alice Marie, have two children and two granddaughters.
